like the thread title, my bb (7250) is acting strange. i think i just need to restart it but i dont know how (not turn power off but actually restart it, like when u delete/install a prog). basically, if i miss a call and mark the message as opened, ill still see the indicator on the top. i need to mark a message as unopened and then opened to get it away. or when i receive a message w/ bb messenger, the red service light keeps blinking even though i checked the message. also, the longer i go between restarts, the slower my bb gets. sometimes when i type fast there is a lag in response time that they words come up on screen. i am assuming its like a computer that slows down if you dont restart it for a while. any idea how to fix this or how to restart it manually? i hope its not defective, i bought it like a month ago. thanks

Alt+Cap+Del will restart the BB
There is a known problem with all Bbs where if you don't restart the BB for a long time, its memory is pretty much eaten up. So it is better to restart if once in a while.. I usually restart my BB if I got/deleted/replied too many emails. and then it goes off on Sun at 4:30 for 15 mins. so it really retains all the memory thru garbage collection.
Also if there is a unread message it will drain the battery faster too .

if this is a known issue, why hasnt there been an update to fix this issue? its a really annoying problem that really has a negative impact on the benefits of the unit. the bb actually slows down significantly. anyone know if rim is addressing this "known issue"?

I have never heard of this "known issue". Is this common, is someone else experiencing memory loss because their device has not been rebooted in some time?

You can also remove the battery from your Blackberry to fully restart it.

I've seen persistent memory get eaten if you have not cable synced in a while. This usually shows up as Status > File Free = 0. We've been able to fix it by backing up the handheld, wiping the device and then restoring things.

I've noticed that my blackberry (7250, 4.0) will automatically restart maybe once or twice a week. I keep it on all the time; I thought it might be a full memory issue causing the restarts. Could this be true?
