Default Help switching from Nextel to Sprint, What to choose? - 10-29-2008, 05:47 AM

I am switching from Nextel to Sprint and trading in my 7100i for a new BB.

What BB should I choose? Is the Pearl really as bad as everyone says? It would be nice to have a smaller BB if possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Go with Pearl if you like keyboard. Otherwise, they have the Curve or 8800 model.

I don't know about the Nextel BBs, but Nextel's Motorola handsets have notoriously loud ringers. If ringer volume is at all important to you, the Curve is probably a better choice. At least it was with Verizon, when I switched from my Nextel i580.

I have also seen people who have upgraded their BB OS complaining about significantly reduced volume following the upgrade, but I don't know if that was particular to one model or another, or a general issue.

My Nextel BB is quiet at times. On the Curve, can you use MP3's for ringers?

This may help you make up your mind - I've used all 3 of the latest Sprint BB's (and currently carry 2 8330 Curves):

if you like your current keyboard, the suretype, just go with the pearl. I had a 7100i and loved the suretype, but I love the real keyboard of the 8330 much more, so maybe you should try it. BTW, if you like having Nextel and it gives you good service, you could wait and get the 8350 that's coming out (basically the curve for Nextel). The only thing that stinks is that it uses Nextel's data network, which is slow compared to Sprint's, but it has wi-fi built in, though.

We are looking to switch all of our phones over to Sprint. I would save us like $250 a month. I am the only one who needs a BB.

you could always try one phone under the 30 day return policy, and if you don't like it, swap it. But you can only do it once, so make sure you will like your second choice.

Can you open and edit word or excel documents on the curve?

Rate plans are the same on CDMA and IDEN. How does changing save you money?

we are going to drop a few phones in the process. That is how we are going to save some money.
