Default Transferring BBM contacts to new berry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. I searched but to no avail.
Can someone let me know if I just have to go through the process of sending everyone on my bbm contact list a friend request notice (assuming that their pin info transfers over to my new blackberry via the sim card), or is there an easier way to do this?

I'm waiting to get rid of my pearl on AT&T and get the bold next week.

What are you trying to do. Sorry I just didn't understand.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Great question.
You can backup their PIN information but they need to know what yours will be.
In the past, I sent them an email and asked that they place my new PIN in their contacts.
They did NOT need to do a request.

zeroG46: Just getting rid of my pearl and getting a bold and wanted to know if my BBM list of friends will be there when I boot up my Bold with my sim card.

Well, I know that some people use pin and some people use their bb email address. I don't even know what my BB email address is aside from the gmail address I use for it. I usually just get a pin from someone to manually add to their contact info and then save it in my address book and send them the request. I am assuming that the pin info comes over with the phone contact on the sim card so I think I can just go ahead and send those same people the request to add me as a BBM contact once I have my Bold in hand. I just wanted to confirm that my new phone will have a new PIN and that my current PIN does not transfer over with my placing the sim card into the new Bold. Sorry, I keep overexplaining and making my question seem incredibly long winded.

No they don't transfer. Unfortunately you have to re-add them. I myself whish BBM was an IM program you could login to so all the contacts would be there.

also i don't believe the SIM card stores anything but Name and Phone number, but I could be wrong. I remember on my SLVR back in the day when I saved a contact to the phone memory it had a whole list of options including address, multiple phone numbers, etc., but if I saved it to the SIM card the list was considerably shorter.

Ok thanks. I'll just make sure to write down the pins of those contacts manually so I can at least re add them and just request the contact again through my new phone.

You can add the contact to your address book, and put their PIN number in, then use the Switch Device Wizard on Desktop Manager, and it will add them onto your new BB. All you need to do is PIN them after that. You will have their PIN numbers on your new BB.
