i just verify my 8310 curve device is locked to at&t...can i still use it on t-mobile? i plan to get a pay as you go plan on tmobile cause it is cheaper than at&t pay as you go. do i need to get an unlock code from a third vendor party vendor in order to get my curve to work on t-mobile? thx in advance.

If it's still locked, then you can only use it on AT&T. You will have to get it unlocked to use it on another network.

Try HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center . Very reputable vendor for unlocking.

well i'm asking...cuz even though it is locked...i remember using an at&t 8700 on a tmobile network w/o any unlocking...so was wondering if i can do the same since both of them are on gsm network and thus no need unlocking.

is there another way of unlocking beside using the 3rd party vendor? if i call at&t up, can i tell them to unlock my device and how much would it cost?

juwaack68 11-02-2008 11:01 AM

You can't use a locked device on another network. Sorry, can't be done.

NJBlackBerry 11-02-2008 11:15 AM

You did not use an unlocked AT&T device on T-Mobile. It had to be unlocked.

Read previous post.

vincentnyc 11-02-2008 01:27 PM

ok..let's say i pay horizon or a 3rd party vendor to unlock my at&t blackberry...then switch to tmobile a prepaid plan...then in the future i want to switch it back to at&t...do i have to unlock it again? or once i unlock the phone...i can switch from one carrier to another anytime i want?

juwaack68 11-02-2008 01:28 PM

Once it's unlocked you can use it on AT&T or T-Mobile (Or Rogers, if you wanted to move to Canada).

NJBlackBerry 11-02-2008 01:29 PM

Once unlocked, always unlocked. You can switch to another GSM carrier. You can't switch to a CDMA carrier like Verizon or Sprint.

AT&T will not unlock a device for a non-customer. you must be an established customer in good standing in order to receive a free unlock code.

your best bet is to use Horizon wireless
