Default OS 4.5 address lists different standard?

Please Login to Remove!

It seems that I can only move my addressbook saved into an .ipd backup from a OS 4.5 device to another OS 4.5 device. i.e. I can't move it over to an older operating system. Is there a way I can grab that data or am I pretty much screwed and forced into upgrading my other device to 4.5?

What exactly are you trying to do. Your back up should work on any BB.

Make a backup of JUST the address book, restore that backup and enjoy.

Actually he is right. This happened to me at work. I updated all my loaner 8700c's to 4.5 OS. The only problem with that is if the customer has 4.2 8700c At&t OS, you cannot restore from the IPD file as it shows "Address Book" and "Address Book All". The Address Book All is where 4.5 keeps the addresses and somehow you can not manage this address book and it stays grayed out. In fact, if you backup just the address book on the 4.5OS and try to restore it, it will show no addresses also!

I was just plain lucky as prior to providing him my loaner with the 4.5 OS, I backed up his original damaged unit and recovered all of his addresses from that 4.2OS backup. We only had to adjust 4 different addresses. Since this happened, I have downgraded all my loaners to 4.2 OS. I did not find a way to manage the address book on the 4.5 OS restoring to 4.2 OS.

The 4.5 db is not manageable somehow and stays grayed out... (even with shutting down wireless sync and using the old methods to isolate the db.)

I tried this and it did not work. When you backup and restore to the 4.2 OS you will have nothing in the address book. It separates the address book like I posted in the previous post - really will spin your head!
