Welcome to BBF.

Answer removed because I misread the post and it made zero sense given that it was the wrong definition of "unlock".

Well the obvious question is why are you trying to access a device that is password protected, when you don't have the password?

Are you playing with the OP? With the number of posts you have you've got to know this isn't accurate information.

...no, I wasn't trying to. I went back to read the post and you're right, what I said was COMPLETELY wrong. I completely misinterpreted the meaning of "unlock." That'll teach me to read closer and not answer so quickly.

Gotcha... I on the other hand am playing with the OP. This glares of "I found a new toy."

Understandable. I'd be doing the same if I hadn't read the post in the entirely wrong way but I should probably refrain from posting any more advice in this thread..

And you haven't answered mine. You do not come across as someone who is familiar with the device you (imply) that you own.

Have you forgotten your password? Has someone played a cruel trick on you?

Well long story short, yes if you screw up the password 10 times you will lose the data that is on the device. You obviously did not get this new, and if you think you did, I'd return it.

The previous user should have cleared this password, and in fact should have done a complete wipe of the device.

Forget about the USB cable. You don't need it nor will it benefit you in your current situation. You cannot wipe it with JL_Cmdr without knowing the password.

I would call the person who sold this to you and ask them what the password is and where your USB cable is. You didn't get a very good sales experience.

Well, I'm still reading this thread, and I admit that I'm curious about one thing - arbalet4ik, are you sure the 8830 will even work on your cell provider in Ukraine?

You can't contact the seller? Was this a parking lot cash only deal? Do you not have your suspicions that you might be receiving stolen property? Do you trust the seller, even though you cannot return it? Did you know that when you bought it?

If this device has been reported lost/stolen, you won't be able to do much with it even once the last user's information has been wiped.

Enter the wrong password 10 times and the device will erase. You may then access the menu. It will not disable the unit. But again, you may not have much more luck once you've cleared it, if it has been flagged.
