So I'm talking to this unfortunately clueless AT&T guy at the store. For example, he couldn't get past the point that I can use my iPhone without the iPhone plan, even though I said several times that I simply unlocked it.
Anyways, I was down at the store for the sole point of getting my BlackBerry set up with a data plan so I could tether it with my laptop. So I just asked him to hook me up with an unlimited data plan for my BlackBerry. He said sure, and set it all up for $30/month. Just to make sure, I asked "This will let me tether, right?".
He said not really, that it costs $60 per month for them to officially set me up with a tethering plan. Next, he said that if I looked it up online, I could probably find a way to do it on the down low. He said it wasn't illegal to do that, but I shouldn't talk about it to anyone.
Now, I'm just standing there very confused. I had heard those horror stories where people rack up thousands of dollars thinking they could tether with their data plan, but they couldn't.
After trying to question him about the charges, he just made me more confused so I left without a clue as to whether I'll get charged a bunch of money for using my BlackBerry tethered to my laptop.
So, guys, will I get charged?
