Is browing secure on a blackberry? For instance, I would never access my bank account from a wi-fi connection. Would it safe to do that from my blackberry?

Same here. Banking from the BlackBerry uses a secure connection -- the banks' sites, and mobile sites, use https (SSL), just like on your PC. There are no known exploits, viruses or password stealing trojans for BlackBerrys, whereas there are hundreds if not thousands of them for PCs.
