Default Can you synch up a personal Blackberry to work e-mail (Outlook)?

Please Login to Remove!

My question...
I am due for a phone upgrade with Verizon. I would like to purchase the curve for my everyday phone. I also would like to set this phone up to my work e-mail. I work for a big corporation. My company has told me they will buy me a blackberry and set up the e-mail (along with everything else), however the standard blackberry they give out is the 8700 which I think is outdated. I am with Verizon, my company is with At&t.
My company claims that they do not allow employees to purchase their own blackberry and synch it with their work e-mail.
Does anyone know of a way around this?

Thank you in advance.

No, not if they don't allow it. It is their system, you must fall within their guidelines.

If your company supports IMAP or OWA access to your work email, you can use your personal BB to read/reply to email, but you won't be established on their BES, won't have wireless sync of calendar, tasks, notes, etc., and your email sync won't be immediate the way it is on a BES...even it if means getting a little older Blackberry, the benefits of BES wireless sync seem worth it...

You're better off that way. You really don't want all your personal info flowing through their pipes. The blackberry server sees all.... knows all...

I understand your need, but your BES admins will have to grant you access (or not). No one here is about to advise you how work around the desires of your employer.

Default exchange server sync?

I've just got my first BB - a Bold. I'm self employed and have an exchange server. I too, have problems syncing wirelessly. Have been looking on other threads to find the solution to this problem. At the moment:-

If I read emails on my BB, the status changes on outlook but not vice versa.
If I delete emails on my BB, they delete from outlook but again, not vice versa.

My calendar and contacts will only sync if connected by USB to DM.

I'm no techno expert so can someone explain (in non techno speak) if Enterprise Server does what I'm after and if so, what does it cost and where is it installed ie server or laptop?

thanks.

Well, I will probably cancel my personal cell phone and just use my work phone for everything. What type of access will my company have? They can view my text messages or monitor who I call?

Of course! Find another employer that does allow what you're looking for.
