Default Add @ with Space Key

Please Login to Remove!

The day I purchased my Blackberry Curve the salesperson showed me how to quickly add the @ sign in an email as well as the (.) by touching the space key to insert them. Some how I have deleted the feature while trying to learn how to use my phone. Can someone tell me how to put in back. Thanks, Curves3

Welcome to the forums!

I don't think this feature can be easily deleted...what are you seeing that leads to you think it isn't there?

Welcome to the forums. Try pulling the battery out for 30 seconds, while the device is powered on.

This feature only works when you are in a field designated as an email field. For example, if you go into a new contact in to the email field, it will work.

It will not work when you're typing in a regular text field.

And the period only works with the space key when you're entering a url into the BB browser.

Actually, if you are typing text and you hit the space bar twice you will get the period. It is not just for URL entry.

Also, if you're typing an email address into the appropriate field, the first space will give you the @ symbol, the second space will give you a period. Not just for URL entries.

Yes, this is a different feature--a very useful one that allows you to end sentences and begin new ones with just two taps of the space bar.

Yes that is true but how do you input the @ symbol in a regular text field?

For any of the symbols/numbers in the upper portion of the BB keyboard you need to hit Alt + the key when in a regular text field. Note that you don't need to use Alt for numeric fields.

Is there any quick way like the SPACE/PERIOD for url's for the BACKSLASH "/" for url's. I know you can press Alt-G but even that can be awkward when there are a few of them in a url. The Space/period is so eloquent that a similar for the "/" would be nice, too.
