Before I start, I understand these gmail issues have been discussed before, but I cannot find the exact answer. Feel free to post a link to another discussion that provides a solution (or lack thereof)...

I just got my first blackberry this past week (Curve 8320). I thought I would have no issues with gmail on the blackberry but I'm starting to run into some problems. All the problems deal with how gmail and the BIS account I set up sync with each other. Here are the issues:

1. When I receive a new email and read it on gmail.com, the message is not marked as read on my device.
   
2. When I delete a message from gmail.com, it is not deleted on my device.
   
3. When I read a message on my device, it is not marked as read in gmail.com.

From what I can see, these are the only issues with using BIS with gmail. I know I can just use the gmail app, but it takes forever for the emails to show up on my device. Are there any solutions to these issues? Thanks in advance.

Read marks are not synchronized between Gmail and the handheld. Delete synchronization from Gmail to handheld can take a very long time (can be 1+ hour) but it does work.

Oh ok, I didn't think it synced at all. What makes it take so long?

I agree .. I do not think your gmail is synced at all with your handheld. Try deleting your account on BIS and recreating it. Make sure your resend the service books and a do a battery pull before you expect gmail emails on your handheld.
