Default setting up email on a hand me down

Please Login to Remove!

I recently got my sister's old blackberry and have been having a little trouble setting up my gmail account on it. I'm also still getting emails from my sister's accounts even though i thought i deleted them from the service book. Whenever I try to set up an email address, it tells me there's already an account set up with this PIN number, but i don't know the login details for it. Is there any way for me to do this without having ask my sister for the login details? And is there a way for me to stop getting my sister's emails? This is my first blackberry so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Read the FAQ article "Buying a used BB off eBay". Even though you didn't get it there, the answers are in the article.

Basically your sister needs to call her carrier and have them cancel the BIS account. You then need to call your carrier and have them properly provision the BB, add a BB dataplan and then set up your BIS account so you can add your email accounts.

That's a pretty common mistake. The BB itself is sort of a frontend. You need to take care of your sister's existing BIS account (which she forgot to have deleted by the carrier) on the backend. Deleting the service books only helps temporarily as they're automatically pushed right back to the BB.
