Default BES Activation and HTML/Get Images functionality

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone:

Recently I updated my BB OS to 4.5 and I have been enjoying the wonders of HTML e-mail on my 'berry. However, this morning I registered on my company's BES server to get work e-mail, and since then, my personal e-mail will not download upon hitting the "get images" option.

Does anyone know of any security settings that could not be blocking the ability to get these images in my e-mail? I've verified that my browser settings are all still set to Internet Browser, and I confirmed with the company's BB Guru that they would/should not have made any changes that would prevent the image download.

I have resent service books, as well as done a battery pull.

I'm running 4.5.0.97 on an 8130.

Thanks to any that can help!

Hace you tried removing and adding the email account to your BB again?

Resent Service Books, Battery, and this all started when you activated your BB on the BES... Do you know what version of BES they are running, The BES server might be an older version not supporting HTML email.

Yes, I have tried that as well.

In addition, the e-mail account that this is affecting is a Gmail account, set up via the BIS website.

Oddly enough, the emails still display as HTML e-mails (the formatting, etc.) But I just can't get the images to display!

Does your work email download the images fine?

My work e-mail comes in as text-only - No images. But Gmail comes down as HTML, but without images. And then I hit the "Get images" and I see the arrows that indicate the 'berry is trying to download stuff, and then they never appear!

Since your work email is not coming in with HTML email it sounds like you might not be running BES 4.1.6 only your BES Admin can confirm this.

That's very annoying, if that's the case. Why would a BES affect a BIS account, as seems to be the case! Ugh. Very disappointing. I'll ask them about their BES version.

Depending on how they have the BES setup they could be routing everything threw the BES.

I doubt that has anything to do with your issue but how exactly are you verifying that it's set to Internet Browser? Many people mistakenly assume that they're selecting Internet Browser as the default but what they're actually doing is just selecting the Internet Browser settings page.

Browser->Options->General Properties->Default Browser is where you set it.

Broswer->Options->Browser Configuration just chooses the browser config page.

Yup. They have a lot of control over your BB and it could be affecting things whether they're aware of it or not. Verify that there aren't any IT Policies being enforced and that they're not routing everything through the BES.
