Having made the naive mistake of following some forum advice regarding host routing tables and registering my device, I have now got an unread message indicator showing one unread message. However, having scoured every folder I can find I cannot locate any unread messages, emails or anything else.

Does anyone understand what I have inadvertently done and how I can put it right?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums Bubby! Oh, it's there alright. Probably under your master message folder which may be hidden. Go into the applications list and hit Menu>Show All. Do you see another message folder there? Is it in there? If not see:

P.S. Updating your HRT is not a mistake! It's fixes things sometimes!

Thanks for your help - but no joy so far. I tried what you suggested and the only file to show was a saved messages folder, with nothing in it. Is there anywhere else I would find the master message folder?

Interestingly, having experimented with re-registering the HRT I now have a 2nd unread message somewhere. Don't think I'll do that again.

Any ideas?

Did you go through the steps in the link that I provided??? I am sure if you follow them you will find it. Start by going in to your message folder and hitting Menu>View Folder. Now go into each folder and look for it.

Pull the battery for 15-20 seconds, then reinsert it. If that does not clear the unread messages indicator, try sending yourself a test message, then deleting it.

I've looked in every folder I can find and nothing appears. I've tried removing the battery for a few minutes but the icon returns after re-booting. It's alomost as if registering the HRT stimulates a message to a folder or account I can't presently view.

Not that I know how to reset the OS, I'm nervous about the consequences of this.

How bizarre - Sorted!

Out of the blue, 2 notifications from Blackberry appeared recorded at different times regarding registration, which were the messages the icon was referring to. It's almost as if the notification arrived before the messages. Weird!

Did you try switching themes and back?

In the Application list when you highlight your "email" folder does it say "Messages" or an email address?
