Default Redirector issues with Windows XP SP3?

Please Login to Remove!

Having an issue with the redirector working perfectly, then stopping intermittently and at (what seems like) random times. This person was using an a previous system, and moved them to a new computer, this is where the intermittent problem began. The old computer is shut off and sitting in a corner, so multiple programs accessing the same email account doesn't seem to be the case.

Using Outlook 2003 with the redirector (no BES) on an Exchange server. We have another person here that uses this setup with no problem, so the server being the issue is at least low on the likelihood scale.

On the affected computer, it has all latest windows patches including SP3, Outlook 2003 has the latest patches and service packs, Blackberry Desktop Software is latest. We've tried a multitude of other things but I can't recall any other pertinent information at the moment.

The most glaring difference between the machine that works here in the office and the other that doesn't is one has XP SP2, the affected machine has XP SP3. Does anyone know of any known incompatibilities with SP3 and the redirector specifically or the blackberry desktop software in general?

It's possible the issue could be something different entirely however. Any insight/help/guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks, cent068

I can say this about SP3:

When I was running SP2, I had no trouble at all getting my Pearl to work as a tethered modem via Bluetooth.

My hard drive flaked out and I re-installed Windows from scratch and installed SP3 as part of that. I could not get tethering via Bluetooth to work at all under SP3.

My hard drive flaked again after a month or so, and I re-installed from scratch again, but this time only installed SP2.

Under SP2 again, I was able to setup tethering via Bluetooth again on the first try, with no problems.

The problem seemed to somehow be related to the Device Manager or Desktop Manager, as I could pair my BB to my computer, but I could never get the BB Device Manager to show it when I tried to configure it for use as a modem with the BB Device Manager.

It worked fine when tethered via USB under both SP2 and SP3.

I don't know if this is related to your issue. But since it seems to be specifically related to SP3, I figured I'd mention it.
