Installing Professional Express
What a headache!
Okay, I am not a blackberry user; I am a network administrator. When I upgraded us to Exchange 2007, I discovered that we have 1 Blackberry user. We were on the verge of telling her to get a new phone when I discovered "BlackBerry Professional Software Express" and her Blackberry is saved.
Problem 1 -- I'm not a Blackberry user so I don't have a pin code for the download. So I sent the user an email with the url and instructions on where to download to. I then found a pdf document on the installation.
Problem 2 -- One of the prerequests for Exchange 2007 was either install Exchange 2003 SP2 and System Tools or a MAPI client that won't install unless Outlook 2007 is installed. No way! This cannot be right. After a while, I just gave up and am attempting the install without it.
Problem 3 -- It wants a CAL access key. I don't CAL access key. No CD! No clue where to get one.
I'm starting to think that may I can entice her to give up her blackberry with an Iphone. However, if anyone can offer any suggestions on how to proceed then I will keep at it.
Okay, I visited with the user and she found the CAL as well as other codes needed. But I still have the MAPI problem. MAPI doesn't seem to install without Office 2007. The Blackberry software does seem to install without MAPI.
Okay, am I missing something here?
Did you install Software Express? Is it still free for a couple of users?
