Default How can I get T-Mobile to release the Blackberry PIN to use it with another carrier?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently bought an unlocked Blackberry 8320 through ebay and I found out that the PIN is currently registered under T.Mobile and I need them to release it so I can enjoy the Blackberry services with my current carrier.

I have already talked to my carrrier which is outside the US and I have also called T-Mobile in the US. My carrier says this needs to be done through T-Mobile and the T-Mobile support center says they can't handle this request

I would appreciate if someone can guide on how to get T.Mobile to do this.

Tx

Actually, you should contact the seller and have them cancel their BIS account, which will release the PIN and IMEI so that you can use it. Some carriers will do it, others will not.

One of the problems of buying a used BB.

Hurtado,

The process is very simple, I have an 8310 with Digitel too...

You need another SIM with a BB DATA PLAN active and with access to the blackberry portal...

1.- Put the other SIM in your BB and wait for the message that say "your device bla bla bla..."
2. Go to the BB portal where the SIM account that is WORKING xxx.blackberry.com and when you get the message that if you want to change to a new device and ACCEPT. when you do this YOUR BB is now on the NEW network, send the service book and wait.
3. Put the SIM again in the other BB and make again the change, now YOUR BB is in the limbo (with any account created)
4. PUT YOUR SIM in YOUR BB and go to the portal, in your case goto digitel.blackberry.com and try to register.

These instruccion I found it in another forum, 95% of the members with this problems report that this procedure work, I REALLY never tryed because I don't have another Blackberry, but I hope to do it this week

Care to re-write the procedure using "A SIM", "B SIM" and "BB1", "BB2" for ease of reading? I don't understand the instructions you wrote and I have the same "problem" with a used BB. Thanks!

I do not see how this will work. The PIN and IMEI are in use with an established BIS account on T-Mo. That account must be canceled before the PIN/IMEI can be used. Simple as that.

The way to do that is to have the previous owner cancel the account. If that fails, call your carrier, explain the situation and see if they will do it. Some will, others won't.

This is one of the major problems of buying a used BB without doing your homework first. A BB isn't like an ordinary cell phone or windows PDA.

You need a working BB with BIS account created...

1.- Put the SIM with BIS account in YOUR BB
2.- Login to the portal xxx.blackberry.com of the SIM
3.- Go to change device and accept the change

with this step now you BB was release from the old carrier and is now with this carrier

now repeat those step with the original BB to restore, with this step yor BB has no carrier and you can register in the BIS portal of your carrier

YES!! It worked. PIN and IMEI were ok and I could register the phone with Orange Romania's BB services with no problem, using the method above.
