Hi All,

Long time Palm user (Psion and HP-200LX before that) looking to combine cell and PDA so I can stop looking like Batman wearing a utility belt with all my junk on it. Was thinking of getting a Treo 650 but decided to shop around to see what else there was.

Shopped around looking at various PDA/cells, liked the PocketPC units except for the size when used as a phone and the Blackberry units. Looked at the 7100 and liked the size and feel of it but couldn't figure out how to enter text/data in it due to the abbreviated keyboard. The sales lady trying help me made things worse by being clueless herself. We entered in some nice unless encrypted messages.

Left there and went to a T-Mobile store and met a guy with a 7100t and the district manager with his 7105t. They proceeded to dazzle me with the speed of IM'ing each other, features, zipping around here and there, their scores on some drug dealer game (or, maybe that's there side business), etc. I was impressed. Figured I could learn to be proficient with one, too, and moved it up on my list.

Then they showed me the T-Mobile rates, for only $10 more than I'm paying now I get 100 more minutes of voice and unlimited Blackberry. Less than half a similar plan with Cingular. Nice.

My Cingular contract expires Dec. 4th (billing ends the 23rd for some reason) and the day after I plan to switch to T-Mobile via a free 7105t deal I saw online.

So, for now, I'm reading messages and learning. I primarily use a Mac but have a WinBox here as well. Not sure which way I'll go yet for syncing yet.

So, hold off on teaching me the secret handshake just yet.

Hello! I'm Melissa. I just purchased the BB 7105t for T-Mobile. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to figuring things out, but I've only had it for - not even - 24 hours and I've got a few questions. I also wanted to use my BB to the max and I figured this would be a great place for ongoing discovery.

Without running the risk of boring you I'll close for now!

It's great to be here!

Oooh! A girl with a blackberry! Can I be your boyfriend?

(ok, just kidding)

Anyway welcome aboard and watch out for me, dawg and Corey, sometimes we get a little gripey but it's never anything personal against the users.

Just make sure to attempt a search whenever possible. If you didn't find the results that you were looking for, make sure to mention that in your posting so people don't fire back and gripe at you for not searching.

Just trialing a 7230e and I have 15 days left to see if I keep it or go back to my cell phone and Palm Pilot. So far, the BB is working great and this forum has answered by only question as to why I keep getting these etp messages.

Ringtones, no, pictures, there is a program that I think will let you do this, but I can't remember the name...

Edit: gtphoto is the program.

Hi Guys … I have been reading the board for about two weeks and have had my Blackberry 8700C fro about 3 weeks now. This is a great group and I am always a fan of message board for my obsessions (Like AA for Dorks). I figured I should introduce myself and give a little insight to about me. I am a consultant for one of the “Big 4” accounting firms; I do Computer forensics and electronic Evidence discovery. I have been out of school for about a year and have done A LOT of travel domestically (US) and international (Canada and Switzerland), hits the new need for the Blackberry. Recently married October 29, bough a house June 15, and have a Puppy who is CRAZY. I am a self admitted computer dork and really didn’t need another way to stay in the look but went for it anyways. I am always a fan of lending a hand and hope I can fit in here and help out some people from all of the reading of the archives and technical knowledge I have.

My Blackberry is set up on my Companies BES, I also use the BIS to check my personal e-mail on my own server that I manage out of my house. I have Verizon FIOS in my house, satellite radio, satellite TV. I am kind of a gadget freak and keep getting new ones.

I also would like to say Thank You all for the info up here; I was able to get my Blackberry 8700C Unlocked by CINGULAR just 2 weeks after I switched from Sprint and started a new account. I requested it on a Wednesday Night, faxed then the info they wanted on Thursday afternoon and had the code in my inbox on Friday morning.

Feel free to e-mail, PM, or PIN me anytime I am always up for chatting and helping when ever I have some time.

Some software packages may not be formatted to work correctly on the 7100 or 8700 phones or they simply don't recognize the model numbers.

Cool New BB Fan! - 01-01-2006, 04:19 PM

My name is Rick, in Winter Garden, Florida. I've had my BB for two months and quickly became addicted after a friend told me to look at this site. The info and knowledge has been awesome. I've solved some problems just by serching and reading, a lot, lol......

Good evening all,

New BB'er in Maryland here. Thought I'd pop in to say hello and share my pre-thanks to the various members of the board. I recently purchased my first BB, model 7105t, after seeing one of my fellow workers fiddling with his. I think the lil gadget is a great tool and soon it will be linked with my agency's BES.

This has been an invaluable forum in helping get things up and going on my end. I intend to hang around for a good while longer to pick a few brains.

Cheers!

Hi to all on the forum, I promise to ask the dumbest questions you've ever had. I will read the FAQ's before asking though. You are going to have to be patient with me as I am a newborn in the BB world. Just bought a 7230 and it blows me away. Glad your here.

hello all,

this is my first post here, and first time bb user. Long time pda/ppc user and my buddy just bought a 7100 and gave me his old 7280 and decided to try it out. All I can say is, I should have listen to my friend who's been a bb user for 3yrs, eventhough my ppc-6600 is 2yrs newer than this 7280, i was blown away with bb. Im actually planning to get a 8700 now after using 7280 for 4days! but i just bought a se w900i. the 7280 will do for now until i can afford to buy a newer bb.
oh and btw the only thing i miss on my pda is the ability to use real time GPS. I was wondering if this is also available on bb's????

Greetings. I'm a high school administrator currently living in Colorado. I'm a recent transplant from Florida (By choice! I love it here!) and am a HUGE e-mail and IM user when keeping in touch with my friends and family back in FL.

I'm a major Mac geek after switching in 2002. Also, a recent switcher from T-Mobile to VZW since our school district gets a nice government discount.

I was recently asking about "convergence" devices and our government rep said I could acquire the BB 7130e for $30 including the car charger. Well, the car charger is $30 on VZW.com so I figured what the heck! I poked around on this board for a while and with all the BB love here, I figured it was a no-brainer! I've had a Treo before and it was just "OK" to me - the main thing I wanted was push e-mail and IM capability -- doable on a Treo, but I don't like "work-arounds" when they can be avoided.

Anyway, my 7130e is on the way overnight and should be here tomorrow...

Scott

Try reading through the Ringtones, Themes and Wallpaper forum. You'll find a wealth of information there.

Nextel BB's have GPS on them. YOu would need a mapping program. I have never had any luck with it, but only occasionally even attempt to get my location download... jsut another option I don't need. Like power folding rear seats in a 2-seater car...

hey all- just found the site. I am the Blackberry admin for our company. We have 14 7520's attached to a GroupWise BES. We are rolling out 50 more this year and 100 next year. I have been looking for a place to get quick answers since I started the pilot last year. Good job all, and thanks in advance for all the help I am sure I'm going to get.

I am using a 7290 with a 4.0 BES for a few months now, this is my first BB device and I have to say that although I started out cynical about using BB services, having several bad experiences with "wireless e-mail" solutions it is absoloutly great.
I'm looking forward to learning and sharing.
Just wondering, who is the local BB provider in Israel?

Default error 403 - 02-20-2006, 01:09 PM

I have a problem accessing a secure website that is mine from the Blackberry, it gives me the error 403 forbidden access message. We do not run a BES we use only the webcllient software. I have contacted our cellular service "Verizon" and they don't have a clue.

I can open this page from any computer just fine but when I use the Blackberry to try and go to this site this is the message. I searched the forum several times and everything points back to the BES server, but again we don't run a BES server. anyone have any ideas?

If anyone has a clue for a work around please send me email or pin me,

Thanks
