Regarding the Site

As a longtime BlackBerry users I upgraded to a new BlackBerry and wanted to ask questions on forums, then realizing that there are no forums organzied enough or existant for blackberry users to ask questions, or just generally chat regarding the Blackberry, so this here forum opened its doors within 6 or so hours of coding, on August 15, 2004, and launched Sunday August 16, 2004.

The forum growth is overwhelming, and extremely impressive for a site that has only been existance for as long as it has.

Default New member, looking for education - 01-08-2005, 01:45 PM

Hey guys... GLAD I found you.... Been a BB user (7290) for about 3 months. I am somewhat techno savy, but due to work and family obigations, my time spent with techology is pretty much limited to business... therefore I end up being pretty much an appliance user.

However, I am the tech contact for our local office (the interface for all others to the IP helpdesk at our company)... And, I am the first person in our company to get the 7290. Managers had old monochrome BB's... didn't do anything with them but email and phone... But now ALL sales and marketing staff in our company will be getting 7290's... Since I am the first user, I am trying out bunches of new things.. software, new ways of using this technology for improving our productivity, etc.... and hope to spread to other company people all the great stuff that the BB's can do for them (using BB as modem right now on my laptop)...

I will be needing some overall education, and probably some specific instructions, but it will be multipliled over our whole comany (100's of other new BB users...)... Looking forward to the learning!

Default Breaking the ice - 01-13-2005, 05:04 PM

Hi there, just wanted to say hello. I have been a BB 7290 user for 6 weeks or so. I don't know how i ever managed without it.

I am glad to see that there is a forum (pardon the pun) that is jam packed with info. Its funny many of the sales guys at RIM don't even know some of the tips and tricks on this site.

Awesome!

Default Way cool... :) - 01-14-2005, 12:35 AM

8) Hey, this is great. Finally, some people who know something! Calling my cell provider, Cing(cough)ular usually gets me nowhere fast.

My biggest obstacle is I have no Windows working anyplace, just Linux, and any third-party software seems to require a Windows box USB'd to my 7290. Oh, the pain...

Hey just dropping a quick not to introduce myself. I have been using a BB for quite sometime hooked into our co email (BES). I recently purchased an unlocked 7100t which I totally love and was trying to learn more about it capabilities and features and I came across your site. New guy here. I have a 7520 thru Nextel. It's my first BlackBerry and I'm addicted already. This forum has been more informative than Nextel support(HaHa) and RIM support. Thanks a million to Mark Rejhon for his help and patince with my OS problem.

Total newbie also. Actually came to BB via my dad, who's never-the-early-adopter in our family.

I'm also a web designer/dev so looking forward to tinkering with WAP tricks!

Default New to the forum - 02-11-2005, 11:31 AM

I recently deployed 20 BlackBerrys in our office. I manage the IT group responsible for that (and the BES). So far things have gone off without a hitch. We're on BES 4.0 for Lotus Domino, using the BB 7730s.

This looks like a very well-run and informative forum.

I have just got BES v2.2.5.5 for our Lotus Domino v6.5.3 infrastructure with just 6 Blackberry users which will probably increase as time goes on. I have never seen BES or used a Blackberry before so it is all a learning curve. I am so glad I found this site though as it has already proved invaluable and has helped me overcome some issues that I have already had.

I wanted to go straight for BES v4.0 but Vodaphone UK have still not released it and my directors were too impatient to want to wait so I have had to go with what I have got and will then have to upgrade once it is available.

Hello to all and cheers for being here :D

Default Newbie...This Site Has Already Saved Me OOODLES of Time - 02-12-2005, 10:25 PM

Hello...got a BB 7520 from Nextel about a week ago. I have not put the thing down yet! I am worried that my 11 year old son is going to steal it and my wife is going to throw it away

I have already installed two third party apps: VeriChat and WebViewer. I had issues with both which I was quickly able to resolve thanks to this INCREDIBLE forum.

I look forward to learning more and sharing what I learn!

Thanks!
