Default upgrade 8310 OS BES compatibility

My 8310 connects with my companies BES server. When I look at the info about updating the software (using 4.2.2.170 now), it seems to indicate that it might break the authentication with the BES.

Does anyone have experience doing this? If I upgrade the software and it breaks it, can I just restore off a backup I made with the desktop manager?

Even if I can't update it, I would like to unlock the vendor themes, but I can't find the software for 4.2.2.170 for ATT. Every link I find to it leads to the same page which only has the options to download desktop manager and the PTT EMR patch. Where can I find this software?

Welcome to the forums.

You can update your OS, yes it will break your connection with the BES. Have your BES admin set you up with an EA password and then reactivate your device after upgrading.

If I were you, I'd talk to your BES Admin before you try to do an upgrade, especially if this is their device. Some firms are very strict as to what you can and cannot do with their BB.

Any time you upgrade the OS on a BB you have to resend the service books. For BES that involves going through Enterprise Activation again.
