Verichat - IM question

Hi
been having some real trouble geting "verichat" or any IM programme working on my BB.
tried 3 now the last one i tried is QuickIM, non will or can get access to the server. my email works, webbrowser works, wap thingy works but can't get out with IM.
checked all the APN settings, must be missing something really simple, any ideas?
contacted my o2 provider and of course they can't won't support any 3rd party software and won't even give me any advice.

hope someone can help

ps. i have a BB 7290

Have you had a read through this thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...&highlight=apn

What have you got under your APN settings at the moment?

retepnikrap 10-22-2005 02:16 PM

read the thread

yes, i read the thread and followed it to the letter.

still can save the APN settings when i take the battery out to reboot, it reverts to the previous settings. thought i'd cracked this but i haven't

wap.o2.co.uk
o2wap
password

these are what are suggested and don't work.

if i can get it to retain the settings i want to try:-

internet
web
web

did this on an o2 p910 and it solved my IM problems.

what do you think?

That is for the WAP service alone as far as I am aware. For the Internet APN o2 uses
mobile.o2.co.uk
mobileweb
password

Give that a try?

For what it's worth, I use these settings successfully on Vodafone UK:

internet
web
web

Note that these are not the settings quoted elsewhere on this forum for this carrier (and suggested by some 3rd party developers), but they're the only ones that worked for me.

Like you, I had real trouble making these settings 'stick' on the Blackberry. It took god knows how many attempts, rebooting by removing the battery - suddenly just when I was ready to give up, it decided to work.
