Default Work email options

Please Login to Remove!

I am using my personal curve 8310 and I want to send/receive my work emails. I had it setup with the Outlook Web Access, but my company seems to have changed the site and I can't connect to it anymore (it has cookieauth.dll in the address now). I did a battery pull, resent service books, even deleted the address in BIS, but now I can't add it back in. It gives me an unable to connect error.

What are my options? The other methods (POP3, etc) on BIS don't seem to work for my company. The only other way I can seem to get my emails is through redirector. I don't like redirector because I have to have my laptop connected to my work wifi for it to work, and at that point i can just use my laptop. I contacted my company IT person, but have not heard back yet.

Can anyone suggest something? I have spent all day searching and trying things and nothing has worked.

Thanks!

Your best bet will be to talk to your IT to find out the correct OWA settings.

Another helpful thing is if you are using a long server address with the mail box name in it to change it to:

https://XX.XXX.XX.XXX/exchange with the X's being the IP address of the OWA server.

Also, did they perhaps change the port number that the SSL uses? Here is the OWA SSL that BIS will support:

o 80: OWA, non-SSL
o 443: OWA, SSL

talk to IT first, you could get into trouble.

I second the suggestion about talking to the IT department, rather than trying to guess. And while you are at it, see if they will allow POP or IMAP access so you can use BIS.

Another option might be to try to forward your email from Outlook to another email account accessible on your BB, however the return address most likely will not be your business email address - not very professional IMHO.

IT just spent some time trying to set it up. They were doing the same thing I was doing trying to put in the data on the OWA setup screen. They are stumped. One thing they did mention is that they upgraded to exchange 2007 last week. That is when the problems started. I read something about 2007 being different, but I can't find it now.

How do I get OWA working on exchange 2007??

Thanks.

You don't... your IT department needs to correct whatever went wrong. It should (have) been seamless to you but obviously they missed something.

If they used a custom from page and ended the url with anything but "/exchange" it will not work. Also, if they put it behind a reverse proxy it won't work.

Good Luck! If you can use OWA and they don't offer BIS then redirector is your only option and it's not great by any means.

I am letting them fix it, but they spent over 1 hour yesterday working on it and seem to have no idea. They are "researching" it now, and I am helping. That is why I am posting here. They asked me to try to find out what I can.

Perhaps this is why this is happening? When I type in webmail.X X X X .com (XXXX being company name) in the address bar, when the page loads it changes to this:
h t t p s ://webmail.XXXXXXX.com/CookieAuth.dll?GetLogon?curl=Z2Fexchange&reason=0& formdir=1

Will this keep BIS from connecting?

I also found this on the blackberry support website:
h t t p : //ww w.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04 804&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=71502664&stateId=0 %200%2038124085

I am not sure if they are related, but that is my exact error. I forwarded this to IT to see about one of the workarounds.

Thanks.

*sorry for the spaces in the addresses, I can't post links yet.

Same thing happened to me ...

I work for the Feds and right after we changed to Exchange 2007, no more work email on the Blackberry. I haven't called it in to the IT folks yet, though...I'm still enjoying the email silence.

The guy from IT came by yesterday. They have given up, and I am about to do the same. His quote was "it works for my iphone, so it must be something wrong with your blackberry". Nevermind the fact that no one who has a BB can get it to work.

I don't think it is worth my effort anymore just to get my work emails. I sure wish the BIS worked better. My next purchase will probably be an iphone this fall.

Thanks anyways guys.

It's really their loss. I actually wish my work BB didn't work so well... As it is I try to vacation in areas without BB coverage.
