Default Is this a virus? Please advise.

In the last 5 minutes a golden globe icon has appeared at the top of my Bold 9000 screen, just to the right of the volume/battery icons, with the number one next to it.

Never seen one before, and when i open my 'Messages', a new message has appeared, called 'CHEEKY MOBILE PORTAL', with the same golden globe icon next to it.

Obviously I have no intention of opening it. I've googled it, but found nothing. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks in advance.

OK, feeling reassured a little now. Still puzzled as to what it is and how I got it though.

No need to double post.

'CHEEKY MOBILE PORTAL' message. WTF?

It's a WAP Push Message, not a virus.

'CHEEKY MOBILE' may be related to the red mark on someone's cheek caused by excessive Cell use. Maybe your BB dosent like your cheek and developed the same thing.

JSConyers helped me to identify it as a 'WAP Push Message'. Likely to just be spam then, so deleted it unread.

Could be a saved browser request (i.e. you tried to access a web page without suitable coverage) or a saved page as well. All of these have globe icons on my BB though the saved page doesn't place an indicator on the home screen. The browser request does.
