Question Missing Part of email

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched the forum and the RIM website but cannot find anything relating to this issue can anyone here help

User of outlook 2007 sends an email to a lotus domino person who has a blackberry device

The email contains Bullet points, Via the users notes mail file the email shows without issue, but on the blackberry device the email has the bullet section missing

example

In Lotus Notes email shows as follows
================================================== ===
Hello Jim
Please see below the sections we need to discuss
  • Item1
  • Item2
  • Item3

We can do it in this order
  1. Line1
  2. Line2
  3. Line3
Call me later

Fred
================================================== ===
On the Blackberry device it shows as follows
================================================== ===
Hello Jim
Please see below the sections we need to discuss
.....
  1. Line1
  2. Line2
  3. Line3
Call me later

Fred
================================================== ===

The bullet section is missing and replaced with dots.

We have sent the same email from Outlook2003 and the text of the bullet points (item1, item2, item3) display but the action Bullet image does not.

Someone has said that it may be due to outlook2007 sending the bullets as html and not rich text. I have not found anything to confirm this

Does anyone know why this happens and how we can resolve this.

BES server = 4.1.4
Device = 8310 Smartphone v 4.2.2.146 (platform 2.5.0.16) But it happens on other versions

Regards

Hi,

I've just had a client with a similar problem raised today. Their experience had the Notes client display the ... without any bullet text, and no blackberry in sight!

In the end, it was due to Notes not recognising the new Office 2007 fonts (I believe Calibri is the new default for emails). I changed the setting for unknown character sets in the Domino configuration settings document (MIME > Advanced > Advanced Inbound Message Options) from Default to US-ASCII, and it all started working.

Not sure if it the same problem as you, but hopefully this might help.

That is interesting, however in my instance the email showed correctly in the notes client.

The newer Blackberrys running OS 4.5 and higher can receive HTML email but they're still not designed to send in HTML. Lotus Notes might give you some HTML email functionality but it's hit-or-miss.

BES 4.1.4 does not support HTML either.

BES 4.1.5 and up support HTML messages. Also, as Rambo stated, the devices will need to be 4.5 or higher.
