I just got an 8900. So far I have to say that it is pants. Everything I have wanted to do, I can't and they are all straight forward simple things.

Does anyone know how I can separate my email contacts from my phone contacts? My mobile support desk thinks it cannot be done and this make navigating through names very hard and time consuming etc. etc.

I do not have Blackberry desktop and got an error when I tried to DL it to my handheld.

Does anyone know if I can turn off the synch function or how I do this? That way I could delete all my contacts and then re-send from ZYB my phone contacts and I will not lose my email contacts when I resynch (or my unit decides to resynch) with my Outlook.

Lastly, does anyone want a Blackberry )

Are you talking about BlackBerry Desktop Manager?
If so, it is a Windows app. I'm not surprised you're seeing an error if you try and download it to a BB. It's a huge app.

if your blackberry is synching wirelessly, you need to go to contacts, then press the menu button and select options, there on "Wireless Sync" change it to "No"
Also on the blackberry there are only one address book, so there are no phone contacts or e-mail contacts, but you can type the name and it will get you the contact you want, no need to scroll to find it.

Desktop Manager is to be downloaded and installed on your PC. You use that to connect the PC and the BB to load apps, charge the BB and sync with Outlook.

One way you can separate your contacts is to assign categories to your address book entries. This will not separate them in device storage - but it will allow you to look at either "EMAIL CONTACTS" or "PHONE CONTACTS" if you desire naming your categories such...
