Default Where to buy unlocked BB

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I want to buy an unlocked BB in Canada and was told by Rogers or Fido (can't remember which) that there's were locked and I need to buy from a website like puremobile.ca
I wanted to know if anyone had any other website suggestions or if anyone has heard about 604mobile.com because contacting Pure Mobile was impossible and they offer the Asian BB's which need to be serviced in Asia in case of problems past the warranty expiration. That and the fact that I had a hard time contacting anyone at Pure Mobile makes me want to look elsewhere. 604Mobile carries unlocked Rogers BBs but I can't find any reviews of them online. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

if your looking for a cheaper way to get an unlocked phone i suggest just buying a regular phone and unlocking it yourself for like $15. youll save a lot of money and its really really easy

Check out the Buy/Sell/Trade forums right here, or use someone reputable like Horizon Wireless.

eBay is an option, but it's getting almost impossible to avoid the scams there now. That place is ruined. Best bet would be to buy here on the BBF and make sure it's a member with a lot of posts. It's not foolproof but you can have some confidence that a long-time member is not a scammer. Avoid any deal that looks too good to be true, especially if it's from a new member with little or no prior dealings. Take a look at this guide first, especially if you use eBay.

I would but I was told that unlocking isn't always possible and that if it doesn't unlock and gets screwed up, I won't be able to return the phone.

Horizon has a guarantee about getting you the unlock code. I've gotten a refund on an old model they couldn't find the code for. They also sell Blackberrys that are already unlocked. You pay a premium for these pre-unlocked ones but you get the convenience of simply sticking in any SIM and you're up and running.

You get something like 10 tries to enter the code before the BB is bricked. If you follow the instructions you get with the code it's a snap. As long as it's not bricked when you return it you're fine.
