I did find a thread that indicated that it would be necessary to enter a bad password when setting up the account, in order to have BIS setup prompt with a "I'll enter the info myself" . . . or something like that.

I find that although BIS does setup my Google hosted domain account for sending, I can't receive e-mail to the BlackBerry. I tried the above, and in fact, seem to remember seeing that "manual" configuration long ago. Now though, I see no such option. So, how does one setup what effectively is a Gmail account, but with your own domain name?

I believe you use the gmail settings, but use "googlepages" rather than "gmail"

Back a year or two ago, I had to convince my carrier (Verizon) to get RIM support on the line so they could make my apps domain look like a gmail domain to the BIS...

it's worked fine since then. also, i was able to set up IMAP for a different apps domain by just following the normal gmail-BIS-IMAP directions.

If you have the correct MX records set for your domain to point to google, you can just use the default in BIS..... along with a valid password. Mine has worked before and after the BIS 2.6 update.

Thanks to all! I am familiar with all of the IMAP settings, etc, but there's nowhere to plug them into the BlackBerry BIS web site configuration. At least, not that I can find. As for the MX records, yes - they do point to my Gmail/Google domain, and the account sets up properly to send, but no receive. Strange.

I just set mine up post 2.6. Had to enter in the server as imag.gmail.com --- was prompted for this after the system failed to automatically setup my email after three or four tries.

Some others are reporting that their email was setup automatically. Mine, however, was not and I had to do a manual setup.

Oddly, mine worked when I set it up tonight, just as I had last night. Between then and now, I had re-sent service books, so maybe that just lead me down the wrong path (suspecting it was the account configuration). Thanks again, and to all for the responses.

It would be a nice enhancement to the BIS configuration page if they just stuck a button on there "Setup my account manually". I would've never guessed it that it takes repetitive failures to get prompted.
