That's what I said originally, but at least this keeps you from accidentally deleting the messages permanently. Remember the trash empties automatically every 30 days.

I just corrected my settings in the forwarding/IMAP tab, to archive and not delete expunged messages. On one test it worked like it should, the next one it sent it to trash. I only delete from both if I know its something I really dont want to save anyway. Thanks for pointing out this issue and helping me play around with it.

No problem. I just hope that someone over at GMail is watching this, and can help us fix this.

Yea. That happens if you delete the message too quickly on the bberry. I've been noticing that too.

What is "One-way synchronization of read status, sent items, and deleted items "?

Does that mean sync from bb to server ONLY???

I believe that's correct. At least that's what I've been seeing in testing.

I used IMAP with Gmail before the 2.6 roll-out, and if I recall correctly, the messages were synced BOTH ways - i.e. if I deleted a message on Gmail website it would be automatically removed from bb (although with a delay).

Or is there something in my bottled water?

No, you are correct. That's why I said this upgrade is really a step backwards.

Evidently, if you use the old way of setting up GMail using the "blank password" method. Some people are reporting some success.

Just re-did using the "blank password" method. Will let you know if it works.

What a PIA!!!

Also, on the Google Help website it says that IMAP is NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED FOR Blackberry!.

BlackBerry - Gmail Help

Since WHEN??? It has been in the past. Is that because of 2.6?

I don't think the 2-way sync works anymore. :(
Oh, well, does not surprise me anymore after I lost 6 months worth of past appointments on G-calendar and bb...

In the past the default setup was "pop" and not "imap", I believe. Also the 2-way sync never worked, it always was a 1-way sync.

You MOST DEFINITELY could have the IMAP set-up for bb and Gmail - I had it for a while before the 2.6 was rolled out. And I'm almost sure that the sync was 2-way (although I would not bet my life on it). JSylvia007 seems to agree on both these point (read few previous posts in this thread).

But why would Google NOT support IMAP for Blackberries is beyond me, especially since they had in the past...

Gmail sync via IMAP was never 2-way sync (at least not immediately). Before 2.6 I used IMAP on gmail and deletes on the web took more than 6 hours to reconcile on the BB. And in some cases it never did.

I agree here. I'd say the majority of the time it never actually deleted off the blackberry. Then again, I dont delete mail, i just put it in "All Mail".
