I am on Bell Mobility
Same here, I'm on Sprint. Not a huge deal for me, but until yesterday delivery was just a few seconds delayed. I hope it changes back!

I have used POP for ages because when I first tried IMAP, it was much slower sending it to the Blackberry.

I switched back today because I wanted to see how quick it was. I have always just read mail in the mail app and then used the Gmail App to archive, report spam, label or send.

I like the idea of deleting in both places for certain messages and deleting on the handheld only for others. It saves me a step.

I read through all this and tested it numerous times. I've changed the settings in advanced IMAP both ways, and on every try, the message I delete on both ends up in trash, not all mail.

I don't ever send things to trash. Even ads from catalogs, etc. Part of the joy of GMail!!

So I will continue to use my old method until I see it change otherwise.

I tried an experiment today, and what I found out is the BB is treating the mail the same as Gmail does if accessed on the Gmail website. I usually access my email through Outlook so I never tried this until now. On the website, if you delete an email from the Inbox, it goes directly to Trash and does not go to All Mail. It will only go to All Mail if you choose to Archive it, not delete it.

So on the BB when you chose to delete the email from the Inbox on both the handheld and mailbox, it does the same thing, it sends it to Trash. The problem seems to be that the BB does not offer an Archive option. At least not yet.

On Outlook using IMAP, when you delete from the Inbox it does not delete it from All Mail, there lies the difference. What I do now from the BB is if I want it completely gone I chose delete from both mailbox and handheld. If I want it archived I choose to only delete it from device then I go into my email program on my computer and archive them. Hey, you do whatcha gotta do.

Yea, this Is pretty much what I am stuck doing now, and basically effectively reading all my email twice. This isn't good for productivity and efficiency.

I suppose I wouldn't mind it so much if it never worked as it used to, by archiving and not deleting. But once to have it, and then its gone... That's brutal.

Did you ever try to change your setup to pop? In Gmail under pop you can select the option "Archive" mail instead of sending to Trash. Would that not solve your problem?

that new setting in the google labs advanced IMAP settings does not change anything when deleting on the BB.
They still get deleted not archived ... maybe BB or Google's fault, I don't think the labs are "officially" working add-ons

If GMail / RIM can get this part sorted out, we'll be in a great situation.

If you read a message on the web is the blackberry supposed to mark it as read (on the device)? I have not experienced this. What is deal? Anyone?
