I have an unlocked Blackberry Pearl 8100 and i cant use any of the data features (internet browsing, email, Instant Messaging). I can use it as a regular phone but just not the internet.

I do have a blackberry data plan with FIDO but my handset is NOT a fido handset. I already registered my email with fido.blackberry.com and everything is setup but i cant receive any emails or IM on the phone.

Tech Support wont help me because its not a FIDO handset. I thought something was wrong with the sim card but i tried it in a friends blackberry pearl which is on the FIDO network and it worked.

So something is wrong on my handset but i dont know what. I updated the os to the latest version(4.5.124) or something. the edge connection is in lower case letters which i think means its not connected to the data network even though on the phone it says data service is on.

One thing i did notice different between my friends phone and mine is that his service book and Host Routing Table have lists of stuff in them but mine are empty.

ANY ADVICE ANYONE?

Lowercase edge does mean that there's no connection to RIM's network. If your SIM works in another BB then I'm not sure what you can do...

First, go to Options > Advanced Option > Host Routing Table and use the menu key to select Register Now. You should get a confirmation email that the message was sent.

You also want to log into your BIS page at Fido and use the Change Device wizard to enter your BB's IMEI and PIN numbers.

i re registered my pin and imei at my service providers blackberry website. I did select the Register Now button on the Host Routing Table, it said succesfull, and then nothing happened? Can blackberry support help me(it costs money!!!!!)

Make sure Fido shows your Blackberry data plan as active on your account. Double check that they don't show you as having a regular smart phone data plan because unless it's specifically a Blackberry plan you won't get any of the data services.

i went to fido today and they said i definitely have me registered on a blackberry plan and its active. They said because my phone is unlocked they cant really help me but they did give me the WAP and GPRS settings to enter in my phone but i have no clue where to enter them??
