Default BlackBerry.com -> Slow software downloads?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. I just bought a used BB and went to BlackBerry's site to get the desktop software only to find that the 200+ MB file is downloaded at a painfully slow 10K/s speed, often timing out. I've gotten as far as 50% and then it just times out.

Is there any other place where I can get this software?

Yep, we feel your pain. It's slow.

No other place that I know, unless your carrier hosts something locally.

So the only way is using some sort of download manager? I tried DownThemAll and it didn't work to speed things up or keep the download alive.

What does RIM say about this disaster?

Disaster? No disaster, just keep trying.

You can ask RIM yourself, no one here speaks for them.

Have never heard or seen a comment from RIM on their download speeds. I've noticed that some days are definitely better than others though.

I'm very angry right now with RIM, mostly because I think that if you're going to distribute the propietary software for your product, you should make it as readily available as possible. Right now, 10K/s with frequent time outs is just unacceptable.

So yeah, it is a disaster.

Redistributing RIM's proprietary software is illegal and we don't condone illegal activity here.

I'm sorry for this, but me too i have problems when downloading from the official BB web site, the connection breaks down every time at 90 % of the file.
