Default Refurb 8820 vs. New Case on current 8820

Please Login to Remove!

Guys - ATT just sent me a new (refurb I assume) unit to replace my existing 8820. My current 8820 was experiencing "slowness" & "lockups" post 4.5OS install that turned out to be an issue on the BES not with the device.

I'd rather keep my existing blackberry because it's activated on the BES, setup the way I want, etc. etc. however the new unit's keyboard feels much nicer.

I'm thinking about keeping my initial unit which is ~12 months old and buying a new set of outer plastic covers (keypad, wheel, covers, etc. etc.). Two questions:

#1 - is there a life expectancy with these devices? Any reason why I would want to take the new device now for reliability issues? Are there any internal parts that will wear out in under 2 years?

#2 - Assuming I keep my current device, where can I get a new outside shell/case for my 8820?

#3 - is there anything else I'm overlooking? I need another 6-12 months out of this 8820 before I am ready for an upgrade/renewal. Any reason why my existing 8820 would not last that long?

Thx in advance for any replies.
