Default Newbe has a question about internet access

Hi, I've had my Blackberry Bold for about five months. It is through att with unlimited internet access. the reason for the purchase is to be able to trade stocks when I'm in the field. I'm a construction worker and I don't have access to a computer. sometimes I get trading instructions a few minutes before the market closes and I have to act quickly, which is difficult with big hands and a little keyboard. My question is, can I connect my blackberry to my laptop and use the blackberry as a modem, and if so how?
I've asked att several times and they can't or won't tell me. they also try to switch me to tethering,- which I can't understand if I already have unlimited internet access. Thank You.

Welcome to the forums.

Here is what you will need to read:
Using BlackBerry As Modem - BlackBerryFAQ

some carriers charge an additional fee for tethering.
