I see absolutely NO benefit to using the imap setup instructions. Just enter your email address and password on the first BIS screen and add as normal. You will still get the read/delete syncs from the device to the mailbox. Syncs from the mailbox to the handheld don't work in either setup. Maybe some day we'll get that but for now it's not to be.
That is how I set up mine and have not had any problems. I had to resend my service books after 2.6 came out but have had no other issues/
