I have found several forums asking how to disable email temporarily, but I want a permanent fix. I really don't want to receive emails on my pearl anymore. Please help.

Yup. If you don't have any email accounts integrated with BIS you won't get email.

If you still need to be able to send and don't want to receive then set the default filter for each email account to Do Not Forward.

I have had a look through the various threads requesting instructions how to temorarily disable email delivery. Is there really no other option than to edit the filter settings? For example, no third-party products available that allow you to just check/uncheck a box to enable or disable email delivery for a specified email account. I want to enable/disable email delivery on a frequent basis but this seems a very "clunky" approach.

You can disable delivery on a BES. Further, with the new personal mail setup application that many providers are using, it is very easy to disable a BIS account temporarily.
