Exclamation Blackberry 8820 unlock problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I bought a Blackberry 8820 from eBay. Although it was advertised as unlocked it was in fact locked to the SFR (France) network.

Anyway, I got the seller to pay for an unlock code which seemed to work correctly (after I deleted the Security Policy thanks to this site).

However, I still get "Invalid SIM card" in the phone. When I look at the SIM status I see this:
SIM - Disabled
Network - Inactive
Network Subset - Disabled
Service Provider - Active
Corporate - Disabled

I have tried several SIM cards and get the same result. Note that before I unlocked the phone it showed "Network - Active" so I believe the unlock code worked ok.

The "Service Provider - Active" bit looks suspicious to me and on all the sample screens floating around to show unlocked devices I've never seen that before.

Does anyone know what this means and if this is why the device isn't recognising my SIM? If not, does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks, Adrian

Hmmm, whenever I have unlocked a phone, it changes the network status to "Disabled" rather than "Inactive". "Inactive" does not sound good.
Also, you should NOT have needed to delete the security policy to unlock the phone.

Where did the seller get the unlock code from? Or do you not know?

In fact, on all of my unlocked BBs the SIM Options > mepd says:

SIM - Disabled
Network - Disabled
Network Subset - Disabled
Service Provider - Disabled
Corporate - Disabled

I get my codes directly from the network providers I bought the phones off (we are on a corporate account with a lot of devices, so they tend to just give me the codes when I ask).

Easy answer is... Can you just return the phone to seller and find a different one? This one sounds like a major PITA.

I don't know..but I bought the code on the ebay..the seller is australian, so, maybe he has that furious-gold software, or he just buys the codes from another seller...

And all of the messages are disabled..sorry..wrong ctrl+c-v
But i got invalid sim..is it a wrong option, failed unlock(the code was accepted:S) or what?
