Default Question about Browser options...

Please Login to Remove!

One thing has been bothering me for quite some time about BlackBerry:

If you are adding a bookmark in the default browser you can change the folder the bookmark is set in, you can select whether it is available offline and whether to Auto Synchronize. Then there is a Browser option. However, when you select it only Internet Browser shows up - not Opera Mini or Bolt - which are installed Browsers on my phone.

Also, in OPTIONS > ADVANCED OPTIONS there is a BROWSER section where you can choose "Default browser configuration", again, selecting it does not all you to change from the BlackBerry default browser to a 3rd party browser.

My question: Why even have such "options" if they are not changeable?

Chris

The only options that would show up their are the default browser and things like the WAP browser or the Hotspot/WiFi browser that are available on certain devices and carriers. Third Party browsers won't show up there.

Not to defend Verizon, but the lack of WiFi isn't their fault. There's no WiFi on any CDMA BlackBerry.

Because on a BB it's possible to have 4 different browsers (depending on model and whether you're on BES or not):

WAP browser (name may vary by carrier)
Internet browser
Blackberry browser
Hotspot browser
