Default want new blackberrry

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking for some advice.

I've been using my husbands OLD blackberry and would like to upgrade and am looking for advice on which phone to get???

I'm with Verizon,
I use phone for phone calls and email mostly, a bit of text too.
Want something fairly simple, reliable,
GPS and online use would be great.

What should i look at? Or are there new phones coming out that i should wait for?

Thanks!

You'll want to utilize the search function of this forum to research the 9630.

Here is your blackberry model lineup from what Verizon offers:

8130 - If you want small form blackberry device you can keep in your purse or pocket, if you are not heavy emailer, if you need keyboard but OK with blackberry SureType (believe me, you can get used to it). This device can't work overseas, so if you travel a lot it is not for you.

8830 - slightly outdated but very reliable blackberry with full keyboard, big screen, large keys, good battery life, will happily roam overseas on GSM networks. I have a friend who travels a lot to known and not so known countries and he swears this is the best blackberry for his needs.

8330 - if you want what 8830 offers but in slightly smaller package, and just like with 8130 - don't plan to travel overseas with it.

9530 - if you are looking for cool device with multimedia capabilities and can survive lack of physical keyboard (I know people who really can't). Coolness is the major factor for that device, yet it is just another blackberry and does all what other blackberries do. Just like 8830, can travel worldwide.

8703e - Verizon still offers that device but I recommend it only if you need really long lasting battery life and expect occasionally drop device on the floor. It will survive abuse better than newer blackberries, but it is two generations old. Some people manage to run 8703 for a week without recharge while new devices need recharging more frequently. Recommended for countries where finding power outlet is a problem.
This is also the only blackberry model Verizon offers that does not have GPS.

You can find pictures and colors of all blackberries Verizon offers, specs and prices at Verizon Wireless Web site under Phones&Accessories/BlackBerry Devices.

I don't see anything in your requirements that really puts one model ahead of all the rest so I don't get all the recommendations for the 9630 which isn't even out yet.

Check out the models currently available from Verizon. See if any features are must-haves. Make sure you check them out in person to assess physical attributes (keyboard, size, etc) that may or may not matter to you. Model selection tends to be quite subjective.

I love my 8130, it does everything the others do and it still feels like a phone when you talk on it. But I have to say that the 9630 does look appealing, and it will probably be my next device when it comes out.

If you want one now, I'd recommend the pearl, as their free right now. But if you have the patients to wait till (probably) September or so, the 9630 is looking to be awesome.
