Default Push company contact information OTA

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

We just installed BES v4.0 and got things running (I think). I was able to add couple users and we were able to sync with BES. Users are receiving there emails, contact, calendar, ect. My manager wanted to know if there is a way to push our company contact information (about 50 contacts) to userís blackberry 7290 over the air.

Thanks,

nc101

If you can get it into their Contacts in their Exchange boxes you could. However, the lookup tool will always be more accurate assuming that you keep your Global Address List up to date.

Create a PST file and put a contact folder inside of it with all the contacts you want. Then select File > Import / Export and export the contacts as an Excel file. Then e-mail that file to the users and have them do an IMPORT from the excel file into their contact list.

Another option is to select all the contacts and drag and drop them into an e-mail. Then the user can add them by opening them on the blackberry or opening them on the PC and selecting "Save and close" on each contact.

Lookup is great, but some of my users are lost. My manager what them to be able to go into their contact and from there they can email or call which every individual the want.

stonent,

Your are suggestions is great, but my user have no idea how to even turn on there blackberry let alone import a pst.

I need a way to simplify thing without having user interaction?

You are the one doing the PST, just e-mail them the excel file, have them save it on their desktop and provide instructions File Import/Export > Import > Excel and select Contacts.

There are no ways to do it without their interaction unless you have access to all their accounts.

Or you could make a website with the contact information and the user could highlight the phone number to call it.

Did you want to push all of their information to their contact list? or just have it pushed to their handheld?

We do the icon on the BB with the information pushed (custom web page) as there was a requirement to have the pins up to date listed on the devices (for DR or unexpected outages). We used to sync to the public folder, but that went good bye with the upgrade.

you could always create a custom push web 'application' that would create an icon on their home screen. i can't remember how to do it, but its not hard.

If you are running BES 4 and the outlook profile is configured correctly you can store all the contact information there and have the user do a lookup.
