Default 8330 just replaced, web works but not getting email-- please help!

Please Login to Remove!

My (Sprint) 8330 died and was replaced. I used the desktop manager to successfully move most everything (email accounts and all) over the the replacement phone.

I thought I was ready to get my BB in use after that, but internet services were off. After a bit of confusion I managed to get the internet working-- I think it was just that the radio was turned off (thought I don't know why). I'm certain that just before the restore of my old data on the new phone the radio had been on because I was making calls and so forth and I had a charged battery and strong signal.

So now the phone and internet are working, but I have no email, and for some reason the GPS just wanted to replace software version 2.1.01 with the exact same version, saying that newer software was available which also seemed a bit odd though I did allow this. I read and re-read the versions old and new-- they showed to be the same. I don't have enough GPS signal where I am to test that further, but I think it will probably work now. Still, my email has to be addressed-- that's the main reason I have this BB!

When I used the desktop manager to move the data over, I also thought is was supposed to update all the applications to current revisions and that was just early this morning so I really don't get that version update request-- is there a simple way to update everything at once from time to time?

But again, the key issue for now is the email being off-- when I try and email something I see arrows flashing over the 1XEV as usual but the send attempt fails and I get a red "X" next to the mail. I have 5 bars on the signal and the browser is working fine-- this has to be some silly email setting, right?

Also, did you log into your BIS and change to the new device?

Try resending service books.
Go to carrier website, log in go to edit blackberry email then resend service books. Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks for the advice-- very helpful and most of my problems have been solved EXCEPT that my "@sprint.blackberry.net" address is not working-- I have three other accounts that now work fine-- a couple of private URL's and one @bellsouth.net but the BB account won't go.

On the bis.na.blackberry.com site, I can manage add existing accounts and I have added the ones that were on the old BB and I can "Create a new email address for your BlackBerry device". Well I don't want to create a NEW account-- I want my OLD BB account.

I could have forgotten my password (though I think I have it correct) but if that is the case, how do I retrieve or reset it? I set that up once on the BB itself six months ago and have not needed the password since so who's to know for certain what PW I used?

I did try to recreate the same account on the odd chance that is was somehow deleted but it said the name was in use. Meanwhile, mail sent TO that account bounces back as undeliverable. Surely the account does not die when you swap BB's, right?

There must be some procedure without having to sit on the phone half of a day with tech support, right?... I don't understand why this is all so complicated anyhow-- I'm replacing one phone with another because the first one failed. They're the exact same phones-- why can't I port everything over in one action? I want an exact clone of my old phone and setup in every way (except that THIS phone should actually WORK as my old BB had died...)

Thanks again for all the help!

On the left hand side of your BIS account , under settings, you should find Change Device. You need to update your BIS account with the PIN and ESN of your new handheld.
