How can I separate office and personal contacts on blackberry ?

Categories. Edit the desired contact, hit the menu key and choose categories.

It does indeed work. It may not be convenient due to the amount of contacts you have, but the process does work.

You can edit multiple contacts at once in Outlook then sync it.
