Default Newbie question about BB 8320

Please Login to Remove!

I found this forum today and I have enjoyed reading it. My brother is sending me his BB 8320 ( his company is providing him with a new BB Bold). I'm with AT&T and the BB 8320 is AT&T so I plan on just using my sims card from my RAZR. I don't plan on getting a data plan because I wouldn't use it much but I would like to use the WIFI to surf the net or maybe check my Yahoo mail at certain place I visit.

From what I have read on this forum all I have to do when I get the phone is:

Go to options> advanced options> browser and change the default browser to WIFI browser.

Is this all I have to do or am I missing something?

That's it. And of course turning on the wifi. Otherwise it's simple enough huh?

I'd wipe the device to have a clean slate to start with. Also make sure that there's no IT policy on it.

IT policy are the rules/provisions that a company might have put onto the phone.

Awesome. I love my 8320. Having wifi encourages cheapness =)

OK, my 8320 arrived today. I wiped it as advised. Filled my address book, put the default browser on WIFI and turned on WIFI. It works perfect. I have a few questions.

1. If the default browser is on WIFI will that keep me from using media net by accident. I do not want to use edge.
2. Do most of you carry your BB with the key board locked? I can see how that could cause trouble if you didn't. Even with the key board locked I can see how the screen would keep coming on if it got bumped in the case.

Need to get me a media card.

Not sure about the media net browser as I am with Tmob. As for the second question, I usually keep my phone in sleep/standby mode when I'm not using it. Helps to conserve battery and prevent accidental keyboard presses. Keypad lock only prevents the keys from being used but it turns on the screen everytime you press a key.

One more question and I'll leave everyone alone. I've look on every page of the AT&T "GETTING STATED GUIDE" that came with the 8320 and no where does it state what size microSD media card the 8320 will take ( 2gb,4gb,8gb,..) What's the largest capacity?

I opened up my AT&T account and they had changed my phone from RAZR to BB 8320 without me notifying them. Worried I would be charged for data I clicked on (ask questions about your device). I typed in (data). They answered " No you don't have to have a data plan with your BB 8320 but you can still use internet with WIFI."

The technology we have today is amazing!
