Is there any way to change this without using the enterprise server? anysite i attempt to download from (gmail,calendar,etc) gives me the IT message about no 3rd party apps being allowed. did a hard reset once...no change...

You have to remove the IT Policy: Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

Don't do this if you're currently on a corporate BES as it may be grounds for immediate dismissal. Also they will simply push it back onto your BB almost immediately.

Are you on a BES? If so, you will need to talk to your IT Administrator.

If not, did you buy the phone used? Was it on a BES before? If so, it sounds like it has an IT Policy on it. Here are some instructions.
