Default No battery

I have my old Blackberry 7750 with no battery. I need to wipe it clean before i send it back. I have the usb cradle and desktop manager software but everytime i plug it into the cradle the PC recognizes it and the blackberry says 'initializing' then shows the no battery indicator.

I dont have a battery for it, nor the charger cable. Can i just use the power from the cradle to operate the unit? Is there some trick i am missing? thanks!
