Default 'nxtl' showing on phone

Please Login to Remove!

I keep having a problem, that no matter what, despite having tried various things from removing the battery to resetting the unit in various ways, the phone (a Nextel Blackberry 7520) keeps showing 'nxtl' (all lower case) on the display, instead of the normal NXTL. It doesn't recognize what telephone number it has when I try to dial out (which also doesn't work) or get on the web (which definitely doesn't work).

I have tried to wipe the handset (using the tool found in these forums), done a handheld reset (in the options), done a master radio reset (also under options/security), uninstalled and reinstalled software...

I've also ascertained that the SIM card is properly placed in the unit.

Is there anything else to try, short of calling Nextel? I just didn't want to miss something else obvious before trying.

Reload the OS and make sure to check "Reload Radio Software" in the advanced options.

Also, by reset, I assume you meant master radio reset.

If not you should try it, password is 0000

Call nextel. it could be de-activated on their end.
I had most of those symptoms when I didn't pay my bill (except my phone would let me dial directly to their accounts receivable department).
