Default Installing BES for Exchange !

Is it possible to install BES, just for extending web and custom java applications to Blackberry devices without configuring the BES with MS Exchange for mail access ?

I dont want to use Blackberry devices for email access. I just want to develop web applications and custom java applications and extend these applications using BES. So setting up MS EXCHANGE with BES is an un-necessary task for me.

Can I avoid that ? Is it possible ?
