There's no way around the IT policy. If you connect again you will have the IT policy pushed again.

I've been checking out the functionallity of JavaLoader. One of the commands is nvstore: Dumps NV store data to stdout. Now I'm guessing that this means dump non-volatile date to standard output, I thought video but that didn't seem to work. I'm curious as to what the correct syntax for this command might be?

I have a similar problem with recoverflash <size in bytes> switch. which attempts to recover the specified amount of flash. I thought initially that this might be a kind of physical memory dump process. I initially tried it on a 8700r without success, it generated Error unknown request consistently as I tried to sus out the syntax but no joy. and I could never figure out how many bytes I might be trying to recover. I used the dir command and discovered what appeared to be 15056100 bytes. Then I got to thinking what if flash referred to a memory card so I tried it with a 8330 with a memory card onboard. Running the command line appeared to work correctly and completed with no errors only to generate a 0byte file. Again syntax seems to be my problem. Does anyone have some thoughts on where I might be going wrong or if I'm even in the ballpark
Thanks much
K.

Default Need Assistance, Please!! - 12-18-2008, 12:33 AM

I have a BB Curve 8310 (AT&T). While upgrading to OS v.4.5, the phone began to power on and off continually: a black screen, a red led on (then off), a white screen with an hourglass on (then off), and on and off in this cycle. I downloaded JL_Cmder and installed it, but it doesn't seem to work. This is what it does: with the phone connected to USB, I select #4 in the JL menu, confirm "Y", and type "blackberry," but I don't press Enter until the phone screen comes on. At that point JL screen says "Connecting to device..."; however, after a few seconds when the phone screen goes black, JL quits and goes back to the main menu (options 1, 2, 3, etc.). By the way, I am running Win XP, SP2, on a Compaq Laptop (about 2 years old). Any ideas? Thanks.

Oops, I failed to mention in my post above that I have tried JL in two different laptop computers (both running WIN XP SP2), different USB ports, and different USB cables. Thanks.

Can someone assist me with my previous posting pls? This will be my third week unsuccessfully trying to fix my BB. I have followed the steps on various articles, BlackBerry 101: How to Reload the Operating System on a Nuked BlackBerry, What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe, How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder?, and How To: Use JL_Cmder to Wipe A BlackBerry. After innumerable tries, the phone is still locked on the rebooting sequence.

Unless your device is dead (some kind of error on the screen that won't go away,) there's usually no need for JL_Cmder.

i've been trying to help here for awhile... jl_cmder was all i ever used until i wrote my own software.

i'm not trying to take away from jl_cmder, but give my app a shot. it might help you. BlackBerry Master Control Program (MCP) 0.9.2.0 Beta 5 "mcp".

let me know your results, and again, sorry, not trying to take away from jl_cmder.

Do you have a version you can share here without signing up on other websites and installing other software?

Wow! This is really something! Give me a few days to digest this. The ability to install a "selected" OS is great! I've always hated not having that ability.

I wish there was a way to make a backup. I hate using DM for that.

yeah, it's a work in progress. i hate dm, but nobody seems to be able to duplicate what they do. and the way they do some of it is horrible... do a backup, and then still have to trick it into exporting your apps by using the device switch wizard.

but i'm not worried about that so much... javaloader.exe is a powerful tool, i wanted to exploit it for every possible option via a gui. done. then i wanted to optimize my os, but not take away from crackmem --- and at the same time attempt to do it in an identical way...

...and finally, my worst pet peeve, i hated uninstalling all of my os's and only leaving one os in add/remove programs. i got zero sleep until i figured that out. ;) now i'm installing 88xx, curves, and storms, any version, any time - no uninstalls.

i haven't seen a single tool out there that works as a gui and can add/remove/save modules, etc. like mcp can.

i am holding on beta 6 only because one of my beta testers is saying that he cant change input languages after os installation... but i suspect the exe that was installed might have been english only. time will tell. the mcp dropbox really is the best version, i just hate pushing out beta versions unless people really want the latest and greatest.

@killa9512 - probably choice.com - in your program files\jl_cmder folder, rename that choice.com to something else. then try your desktop shortcut again. or try mcp

Default resettofactory with 9530 OS vs4.7.0.75 - 02-15-2009, 05:46 PM

I've tried to resettofactory to remove the IT policy several times on my Storm 9530 but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm not sure how to check to see if the policy is enabled once I come back from the reset, but when I install gmail it (1) asks me to set a key store passwd, which i do; (2) when it tells me the certificate is not trusted, I say "Trust certificate." I enter the key store passwd, it confirms that the application is requesting access to the Trusted Key Store. But when I say OK, it says "The certificate could not be added to the Trusted Key Store due to IT Policy restrictions." (see attached pic)

So, I'm assuming my attempt to delete the IT Policy didn't work

What are my options here? If I use JL_Cmder to wipe the blackberry clean and then install 4.7.0.103, is the IT Policy guaranteed to be gone?

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

You can tell if the IT policy is gone by looking at the firewall. If it has a lock by it the policy is still there. If there is no lock and it can be disabled then the policy is gone.

There's no lock, and the firewall is disabled, but I'm still getting the above msg about the IT Policy restrictions when attempting to trust certificates.... I'm confused.

I ended up wiping the device with JL_Cmder then installing the leaked .103 OS version, and all's well now. Works like a charm.

Load OS 4.5 onto the device. Then follow "method 1" in the following post:

I have attempted to open the jl_cmdr several times. Each time a smaller black window flashes and goes away. Can't seem to get the file to open. Any suggestions?

Perfect! Worked for me also. Only, I did something dumb by restoring to an old back-up (so I could have my contacts, texts, etc) after the software upgrade. This brought the policy back and I had to start over. But it seems to be working now. Thanks again!

Resettofactory command only works on devices with OS 4.3 or higher. It won't work on the 8707g since there is no OS 4.3 or higher for that device.

My radio would not stay on unless I was in the Manage Connections screen. It had been auto shutting off periodically over the past week. This utility let me erase the device and reload the OS from scratch. So far it is working properly again!!!!

resettofactory will leave all your apps but will wipe all data from them. Be sure to make a backup first.
