Make a backup first, if your can. Use JL_Cmder to wipe the device. Download and install the specific OS for your model handheld. Start Application Loader (included with the OS) to begin the install process of the new OS.

I work for Telus and a guy called in saying he had to dive in front of this car to stop a kid from getting run over and barely got out of the way before his Blackberry got smoked by the car and he's wondering how he can get his emails off of it. I told him he could use this software to pull screenshots and navigate it that way. Thanks man.

*EDIT - it's just the screen that's broken. The device still works, he just can't see shit.

Thumbs up JL_Cmder Updated to v1.8.3 - 08-17-2006, 04:19 PM

There is now an updated version of JL_Cmder available. The primary change is the handheld password can now be entered once instead of each time the device is accessed.

Done. You can now download as an 'installable' EXE. Its just a self extracting executable with a simple dialog.

Do any of the functions work? Is it just the screenshot that is not working? If so, your handheld is probably not running handheld OS 4.0.2 or higher. The screenshot function does not work on OS 3.x or 4.0.0.

Is the handheld using a serial connection? If so, you will have to modify the batch file as it is configured to access a USB connection only at the moment.

I haven't tried your script yet however I don't want to jack your thread can you possibly help me out with my connection issues with the BB. I've sent you a PM as I can't post links to the thread as of yet.
As a last resort I will try your script. The topic of the thread is Verizon 7250/Cingular 7290 Snychronization issues listed in the General forums

Thanks in advance

Do you have either BlackBerry Desktop Manager or Device Manger installed? Can Desktop Manger connect to the device, or at least see it? If not, JL_Cmder won't be able to see it either. You many have a defective device.

Not sure why the Backup and Restore option is grayed out.
  • Is your BlackBerry functional right now?
  • Have you connected to Desktop Manager before?
  • What version of Desktop Manager are you using?
  • What model BlackBerry?
  • What version handheld software?

Using a USB hub with a BlackBerry is a known problem. The hub does not always provide the proper voltage to the handheld. When possible, connect the handheld directly to a powered USB port on your PC. Glad you figured it out.

Default 507 Error!!! Please Help. - 11-30-2006, 04:54 AM

Newbie...
I have read all over this site looking for help to resolve my issue.

BB does connect and communicate...

I downloaded the DM and SW Upgrade for BB7520.
(Performed several times)
Installed DM then SW then connected. Even tried every variation of this I could try.

I've used JL_Cmder to wipe.
Battery is fully charged.

Every attempt to install the software stops at "Load Radio Software" and error 507 on the BB

PS. I have also tried on another BB same model and it also has a 507 error.
Both worked prior to upgrade attempt.

Thank you,
Bobby

Using what was tried in another thread, I removed rim7520p.bin from the SW folder, and was able to install everything but Radio. (no phone or charging)

Same on both phones.. HELP!!! Please?

Ran JL_Cmder once without any problems but when I tried to run it again, after the start-up screen and when I pushed "any key" to run the program, I end up getting a blank screen.

What is wrong and how can I fix this?

I would just uninstall it and then reinstall it. I use JL_CMDER all the time with no problems.

strange. been doing this all afternoon and got it to work only once. Now with repeatedly attempts, I cannot get JL-Cmder to work, just a black screen with JL_Cmder v1.8.3 on the menu bar.

Any ideas?

Try launching the batch file directly. Go to C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder and double click on JL_Cmder.cmd directly. Also check that there are four files in the directory (JL_Cmder.cmd, JL_Cmder.ico, JavaLoader.exe, and choice.com).

Default unable to open port - 01-04-2007, 03:16 PM

Hi, I followed your instructions as closely as possible.
When I type javaloader -u wipe, I am getting an 'unable to open port' message no matter what I try. I'm using the USB port directly on the laptop, it's powering the BB, and the BB Desktop software is detecting the device. So I don't think the port OR the cable is bad. I tried other cables, same thing.

I also tried running jl_cmder, and typed blackberry to confirm wipe. When I do that, a red screen flashes for an instant then goes back to the menu screen. No other result.

Thanks for any help.

I'm using the Nextel 7100i, if that makes any difference.

Make sure that BlackBerry Desktop Manager is not already accessing the device. I would recommend that you close the Desktop Manager and Device Manager (if running) before trying to run any command line to the device.

Make sure Desktop Manager is NOT running while using javaloader or JL_CMDER. That could be the problem...

Hi doug et al...
I loaded your JL CMDER and when I open it up (desktop or from programs listing) i'm getting this error:,

"C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL. An installable virtual device driver failed DLL initialization."

But I'm still able to get a screen shot and look at the event logs and such. any ideas? or is it all good? I'm a total noob here and just trying to get smarter on the whole thing. Thx.

Sounds like JL_Cmder is working just fine. The error sounds like it has somehting to do with Symantic (or Norton) anti-virus. Is your anti virus program working properly? I can assure you that JL_Cmder is not a virus. It is a simple batch file. I would guess that Symantic is trying to scan the files on execution and experiencing a problem somewhere along the way.

hi bobby,

i just had the same problem today. i tried to upgrade it at my work computer and it would stop at "load radio software"

i went home with frustration and said to myself to try it again on my home computer... i don't have any blackberry software installed at all. no desktop manager... i downloaded the application loader with the latest OS and the install to the phone went smooth... it might have to do with cleaning out the vendor file and having a clean proper install and uninstall with that desktop manager, there's a post on that in the forums

the phone took a while to boot... had to call nextel to change pins and IMEI's and get service books... but otherwise done

Thank you d_fisher!!

You saved (I think) my T-Mobile 7290. I got a JVM 102 error, and had to successfully wipe/nuke to reload.

Now, if I'd only remembered to back up more often....
