Thanks am looking now I tried both the 348 and working bb's on both my desktop and laptop w/ 2 different usb's and every single time I get "unable to open usb port"

Should I disable "usb root hub" entries in device manager?

Ok I didn't realize that was just bringing it back to the reinstall 0S part. I could get there before but the issue is , on the unit w/ the Error 348, it goes halfway through and then stops - saying

"Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation."

And the device error code / reset thing just comes on again as if nothing happened.

Smile New version of JL_Cmder! - 11-07-2007, 06:41 PM

Just uploaded a new version of JL_Cmder!

Now includes the resettofactory command. This command removes the IT policy from the device (OS 4.3+ required). Also note that after the resettofactory command has been run the device must be wiped. Backup your data first!

Enjoy!

Default java loader link - 11-14-2007, 11:31 PM

Can anyone give me the link for the java loader ?
I can't seem to find the actual link,

I got the JL_Cmder but It does not allow me to "eliminate" PTT from my curve
using the javaloader syntax that I got from this forum.

Thanks

Just open C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder and your find javaloader in there.

Removed it because no one ever used it. You can run run the command manually though.

javaloader.exe -u radio on

*UPDATE* When you get the PIN UNKNOWN error like I did several times, keep trying! I finally got mine to go thru! SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now my 8700C has some new features because I installed version 4.2.1.96! I'm stoked! Although I rushed out and bought the CURVE the same day this crashed on me (see the bPhone post in the MEDIA section for a laugh). LOL!

Default JL_CMDER for 64 Bit Vista - 12-05-2007, 09:07 AM

Hello! Is there a version of JL_CMDER that has been created to work with Vista 64bit? I am attempting to wipe the old OS off my Pearl 8100 and reinstall the DM and the OS. Please advise.

Thank you!
John

No, JL_Cmder was not created to work on Vista 64bit. With that said ,I don't know if it works or not. I have never run Vista 64bit. JL_Cmder is just a batch file that accesses a RIM executable called javaloader. Even is the batch file runs I don't know if javaloader is 64bit compatible.

Are you getting a specific error message with JL_Cmder?

Hello! Thanks Doug for the quick response.

Yes, I am getting an error message stating I cannot run the batch file on a 64 bit machine. I believe the batch file is configured to run on a 32 bit. One question and one comment:

1. Is there a different way to replace the OS on my Blackberry Pearl 8100?
2. Or, I have Windows XP on my home desktop. I guess I could use that computer to do the wipe.

Thanks again for the help! I appreciate it very much.

John

Try right clicking and use Run as Administrator. If your upgrading the OS on the 8100 you don't need to have JL_Cmder wipe it first.

I think I figured out the problem. The 'installer' copied all the files to C:\Program Files but on a Vista 64bit they need to be in C:\Program Files (x86). Try moving the directory and adjusting the shortcut to point there.

Default BB 8800 Trouble - 12-12-2007, 03:24 PM

So my boss gave me her old BB 8800 since she down-graded to verizon, and she tried wiping something out and now here is what the phone does.

Without warning the phone will turn off then turn back on. I am able to get to the desktop on my BB for about 4 minutes. I tried Options > Security > General > Wipe on the phone and it begins the process and not until the very end will it turn off, and start back up. It restarts at the same point every time.

Here is another example and possible problem. I ran the Desktop Manager and tried running the Application Loader to see if maybe I needed an update. I connected my BB 8800 to my computer, direct connect, not hub, and took the battery out. All that shows on the screen is a faded-white background with a battery half-charged, crossed-out with a red line. So with my BB connected, It recognized my pin and I ran the App Loader on the DM and this is what happens as soon as I hit next to check for updates. The red light comes on and the phone turns off while still plugged into the computer via usb. After I exit the App Loader, the phone connects back and the faded-white, red crossed out battery screen again. The same thing happens every time I run the App Loader.

So after that, I tried Wiping the OS myself and reinstalling it. I Dl'd the OS and the JM_Cmder on to my computer and ran JM_Cmder with the battery in, and out and this is what I get.

Currently Just Did This ----------

When I run JM_Cmder with the battery in and run the "wipe" function. As soon as I typed in blackberry and hit enter, the screen shut down and restarted with a little window box in the middle of the screen encased in a circle crossed out with a thin line and the number 507 shows under the circle. Inside the window is three shapes; a Circle, Square, and a Triangle. This is now all I see when I turn on the blackberry.

If anyone has any information, please share !

Note * I can no longer get to the BB 8800 Desktop.
