First, congratulations on a very informative website. I am just about sold on a 7290, but I have a question. I have seached the forum and FAQs without finding the answer.

Question 1.
Months ago I read that Lance Armstrong would receive a message on his Blackberry when an article with his name appeared in it. I am wondering how that was accomplished, be it a normal function (doubtful) or a piece of software. I suppose it's possible that it was actually a web software forwarding RSS, but it mentioned that the article mentioned his name, as if in a search command. Also, I beleive the article was mentioning spring 2004. I wasn't aware of RSS at that time. Does anyone know how to accomplish this as it would be very useful to have this for my company to get industry news this way?

Question 2:
The e-mail functionality goes without question, but how many of you use a Blackerry (particularly, but not limited to the non-phone-type models) as phone device heavily without a headset, and does it work well?

Many thanks for your help and my apologies if my searches have missed something here.

1) Lance Armstrong most likely had a news clipping service that forwarded articles with his name in them to his blackberry. Many celebrities use this type of service.

2) My 7250 works just fine as a phone with or without a headset (wired or bluetooth).

1) Yes, news sources and other companies provide clipping/alert services for a fee that will send emails to you when stories meet whatever criteria you set it up to monitor. Some services provide very comprehensive coverage of numerous news sources, but can be pricey. Yahoo! and other websites will send alerts for stories on their sites, but I have never checked whether free or $$$.

2) Have a 7100g. Works well enough that I only use device and never use land line for personal calls anymore (great to be able to dial straight out of device address book or global address book, although device volume could be better).

Default Thank you!

Thanks again. I was afraid that it was news clipping services as well, but held out hope for software. I don't think my small co can afford the clipping service.

Glad to hear that the phones are working well. I want to get my hands on an 8700c before making the final decision, but will probably get that or a 7290. I'm just a litttle nervous about the tighter spacing on the 8700 keyboard along wiht battery life, though I'd like to have the beter screen.

I just can't risk the instability of a TREO these days and I don't like the form-factor as well for the PPC devices.

Cheers,

-Brick
